Hitting one app opens a bunch of others

When I open up apps, usually messaging app, but it happens with others, it will open for example my contacts. And when I try to back out I have to go through a lot of other recently used apps. Like the play store, Gmail, etc.

This doesn't happen all the time, but numerous times a day.

Any thing I can do to fix this? Faulty device? Glitch?

That only happens if you've opened something through that app. (Like contacts in messaging, and so on)

I understand that. But this happens with apps that wouldn't be able to be opened within another app.

For example. If if I open my messaging app I may have to back out of instagram, browser, play store, then browser.

I know some of these can be opened through a line in a text, but I know I have never done this, I have had the phone less then a week.

I've done that multiple times. It happens. Usually when you open another app through an app and then open another one again using that same opened app. Sounds complicated, but it makes sense.
