what are the two holes on the back of the rezound below and to the left of the speaker. i have read.... mic for video, noise cancelling mic, charging ports, antenna ........ etc

i am wondering because the otterbox case i just got does not have the holes and if they are required its going back

edit
don't think its a mic because i just tried a little test and there was no difference in audio

I'm fairly sure that's where you'll find the contact charging points in the "wireless charging" back

not the wireless charging connector, that's way up top, top of the battery, just right of the SD card (there are 5 dots)

I'm curious about this as well. I agree that they are not mics since they have gold electrical connections on the inside of the cover, not microphones.

I also agree with dpham00 that they are not for the wireless charger since that comes with it's own unique battery cover.

Hmmm...

I believe one of the antennae on the back cover connect to this area, although I could be wrong.

^there are 6 connection terminals(3 sets of 2) shown in your picture for the standard or extended battery cover. For the wireless charging back, there are an additional 5 connection points show in the picture, just right of the sd card. There are additional terminals for the back not shown in the picture.

I'm going with an antennae. It's a lot more apparent on the extended battery cover, but those leads are attached to something under some tape right there. If you look at the standard cover, you can just barely see what I'm talking about. So I'm counting 5 antennae, yes? So, LTE, CDMA, WiFi, Bluetooth, and..... 2G? The fifth one I'm unsure of.

I'm curious about those holes as well. Its precisely what ultimately kept me from buying that case. I felt there would have been some audio distortion.

They have nothing to do with sound production. The extended battery cover does not have the holes.

The holes are just mount points that hold the metal connection tabs to the antenna built into the door. The Thunderbolt's standard battery door has the same thing. The extended battery door doesn't have these as its size allows a different mount type.
