Just picked up my Nexus S 4G yesterday and the Home button does't do anything. The haptic feedback works, but it does not back up to the home screen...just wondering if I have a bad phone or is this a software thing.

Mine did this when I installed the wave launcher, and I had to uninstall it. Maybe an app you installed is causing this. If you don't have much setup on it yet try a factory reset.

If this behavior was present out-of-the-box, your phone is likely defective and be wise of you to exchange it as soon as possible.

If this started after you loaded some apps, do a factory reset and if the problem clears, install one app at a time and see which one causes the problem.

I am/was having a similar issue with the back button. When clicked it would randomly dim the button and wait 5 seconds to go back and then the button would relight. I just got the phone last night and my brother also has it and his does not do that. I did a full restore since I have only used it a few hours and it still continued. Somehow it cleared up and has not done this now for about 1 1/2 hours so I guess I'll wait and see if it comes back. If it does I'll get an exchange.

I had this problem when I got mine on Sunday. When the OTA came through it fixed the issue though and it hasn't happened since. It should be build # GRJ22.

I had a different experience this morning. Forgot how I did it but the feedback was weak. Could barely feed it buttons worked though. Power off and on fixed it though.

Update on my back button, took it by the sprint service center and they said to return it. It looked like a hardware problem to them. It works most of the time but sometimes it seems to get stuck down even though its only touch sensitive.

I have the same problem, but I think its me. Because I had static electricity on my body and the button was being pressed 1/2 and inch before I touched it, even if I held the phone on my hand it was being pressed. I had to touch something metal like a door knob for a few seconds to discharge myself after that it hasn't happened. But it would be a pain if I have to keep doing that.
