Need a little help, switched from iPhone and can't figure this out. I did something here because my phone did not do this before. Every time I hit the home key I get sent into my task manager and have to hit it again to get back to main screen, very annoying. How do I change it so I just have to hit it once and not go to task manager but rather go to Home screen?

Unless you changed the phone's default settings, you may be long pressing the home key, which will bring you to your recent apps. Try just tapping the home key and that should bring you to your home screen.

I came here to make a post about this same issue. Seems to be happening more lately....

about half the time (maybe a little more) when I hit the home button, it thinks I'm holding it down and then vibrates and goes to the multitasking window. I can't figure out what it is. I'm not long pressing it, just tapping. Again, about half the time it works correctly...

I actually got an app to do a gesture to get to multitasking, so I wish there was a way (without rooting) to turn off multitasking via the home button.

Is it possible that something physical--a little crumb of something--has gotten into the home button space and is causing it to stick just enough for the phone to think it's being long-pressed?

Absolutely. Had the first suggestion not fixed the issue, your suggestion was my second course of investigation. Great assessment!
