Home Screen Issue

Here's a weird one...I was moving around widgets on my home screen and ended up creating a blank area on my home screen that won't take a widget anymore. I press on the area and the menu pops up for adding widgets but when I add one to the space, the widget disappears. I've tried a battery pull and it still remains. What gives? Anyone else have this issue?
