Am I correct in reading that if it's not installed in the car itself that you can still get it to come up on the cars touch screen by connecting via USB cable?

Looking to buy a 2015 Honda CRV and have the Note 3 (soon to be the Note 4).

It won't work as Android Auto until it receives the update. Apparently it is slated for the update this year, but no information that I can see as to when.

"Additionally, via HondaLink, this infotainment system provides access to social media platforms, traffic and weather reports, Aha global radio, and more. Plus, Honda anticipates making Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available with this system in the future."

I'm admittedly a little disgruntled towards Honda right now. I had reached out to their team (not a 3rd party dealer) prior to buying my car to confirm their plans to upgrade 2015 CR-V's that have the infotainment system to include Android Auto (and I assume CarPlay) when they are released. But over the last two weeks, Honda has been telling people that it's not happening on Twitter. They claim it'll only be for select 2016 models and will not be making it backwards compatible.

Here's a reply that someone got from them.

Any word on the 2016 crv? Would be nice if Honda finally woke up with the 2016 crv for navigation from your phone.

Civic and Accord are the only 2016 models w/ AA. It may change on 2017 models but expect nothing else for 2016.
