So I have seen the horrendous comparisons with phones with OIS, are you having the same experience? Is this something that can be fixed with an update?

That's right, can't get "optical" through software. But the question remains, are your experiences with this phone's 4K video really that bad due to the lack of OIS?

Even the 1080 stabilization on the rear camera tests I saw looked pretty rough. Strangely, the selfie video camera stabilization looked fantastic...so good that I thought maybe the tester mixed up the results with the iPhone 7 he was testing side by side.

Sorry, I stated that totally incorrectly. Blame it on a long day. What I meant to ask is will the EIS ever improve with updates.

Sure, why not, with software you can do pretty much anything.
As long as you have the hardware to back it up, I mean there's no point in waiting 10-20 minutes for post-processing stabilization.

As much as the phone has the hardware to run it, yes it could.
If other phones doing it better are running it on the same hardware, then it would just require OP to implement it like them in software.
Though saying that something can be done, and it actually being done are different things.

ya...i am also interested in knowing about it.... camera is an utmost priority for me...now lg g6 64gb with hifi dac is available for toughly same price as 64gb op5...so what do you think guys camera is better on lgg6 or op5?

The G6, I would imagine.

If camera is the the highest priority for you, I can't see the OP5 being for you. Every review I have seen puts the Pixel, Galaxy S8, LG G6 and HTC U11 significantly above the OP5.

these all cost significantly higher than OP5 except for lg g6 which is currently hovering around the same price as 6gb version of OP5.... does lg bootloop issues is affecting the newer phones as well?...I have heard it was affecting lg v10, g4 etc!!!

Has anyone tried shooting 4k video since the latest update? The update supposedly added stabilization.

A pixel XL can be had now for the same price or actually less than a OP5. Frequently under $500 on swappa, ebay, etc.
