I would love to pick the honor 8 due to it being a 5.2 inch screened phone with some pretty good specs but i think the phone is just priced to high a $399.99. There are other phones like the zte axon 7 and one plus 3 that are the same price but have arguably better stats. They have a snapdragon 820 processor vs a kirin 950 which based on benchmarks that i have seen online is inferior to the snapdragon 820. Of course real world use is different compared to benchmarks. Both ZTE axon 7 and One plus 3 have 64 gb of rom vs the 32 gb in the honor 8. You can get a 64 gb honor 8 but that is going to cost $50 more. Both ZTE axon 7 and One plus 3 have 5.5 inch screen vs the 5.2 inch in the honor 8. I prefer the 5.2 inch but some prefer the 5.5 inch. The camera on each one have reviewed to be average. The honor 8 does have the dual lens camera that may or not be better. Some reviews say that this is the best camera out there are others that say its average.

Overall the phone does look good but just priced in my opinion too high. It has lower specs then its competition while being priced the same. I feel like it should of been priced at a retail of around $350 or less. I would prefer $300 but hey that is just my opinion.

It's a fair opinion. I agree with it possibly being around $350 as a better price. I think it would make it more interesting to see what that dual lens offers because it does sound great. Who knows if that can possibly justify the price?

I think if it was $299, it would be a much bigger success. I'm pretty sure Honor could make a competitive price like that happen, too...

I think it's priced right for being Honor's current flagship for the US market.

Actually CPU in Kirin is better, the GPU in 820 is better. It is not to shabby (now is it super cutting edge? No, but combined with 4gb of ram, unless you are big into gaming, you won't notice a difference.)

It's priced about right in my opinion and for those who register early or order early, you do get $50 off or gift card. Though having a price tag of $299 or $349 as a retail price would make it even more tempting!

There's a person on Swappa trying to get big money for the 8.
He has two listed one priced at $550.00 and the other one at $600.00.

I guess they were freebies to him so he wants to take some poor buyer to the cleaners.

Supply and demand though. I can't knock it.

Honor guaranteed 2 years of updates. That might be worth a little more depending on the user.

This is why I'm not complaining about price. A solid OS and strong software support puts it ahead of other phones in the price range, even if they're slightly better spec'd.

I would think that a Nexus would be better suited if you wanted quick updates... I doubt if honor could match them

While this is certainly true, a nexus will cost much more than this. I remember buying my nexus 4 at release, $350- for one of the best android phones on the market. I loved that phone, but when it came to upgrade, the nexus 6 was way out of my comfort zone (price and size) . So I went for the next closest thing, a moto x, for ~$400.

I'm just not a $600+ phone kind of guy. Nexus used to stand for the best bang for your buck. It was decent hardware at a great price. Now it's decent hardware at a premium.

IMO an extra 2 updates each quarter is not worth an extra $200- so I look elsewhere. Still not sure if this is the right option. I might still hold my nose and buy the nexus. I just don't want to.

I would also imagine significantly faster os upgrades. The 6p was launched with marshmallow. The 5x got marshmallow OTA just last month.

I think it's a fair price given all you're getting with it. Not really a fan of the no app drawer those kind of takes away from the android feel
