This is a quick opinion piece on what phone I came from and which one I’m going to. This is my OPINION not a spec shoot out or a scientific test. I came from a Nexus 6p and tried real hard to love the size of the phone but it was just too big for me. I like a pocket-able phone that can be used one handed quickly. So I ended up buying an Honor 8…. It seemed to be kismet given the timing of my decision to buy a new phone and the Honor 8’s release.

The Honor 8 wins’ hands down on everything from fingerprint sensor to looks. I will say the stock launcher is a little worse than the Galaxy IF you are already used to using android. If you are coming from iOS, I think it’s a great UI to start with. I personally use google now launcher for all of my phones. Did I mention this phone is beautiful? It really is, there is something about it. The day to day is nice, fast fingerprint recognition which is akin to my 6p, “smart button” features are awesome, and I have no problem getting through a day on a single charge.

Then came the S7. It quite literally fell in my lap and after a few days of use I came to realize the S7 is the phone for me. Mainly due to the ridiculously fast camera focus, IS, and just a touch smaller which works for my hobbit hands. The fingerprint reader feels clunky and only works about 60% of the time on the first try… I will really miss USB-C as well. For me it was all about the camera. I have a 5-year-old and it’s hard enough to get a shot in time without having to worry about good technique and focus prediction.

Anyways, I’ll be selling my Honor and keeping the S7… Which tbh kind of hurts just thinking about it. But I know someone will really enjoy the phone and I don’t want it to sit in a drawer for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for sharing your conclusion and thoughts.

In the end, you just have to do what works best for you and your life. It sounds like the s7 will do just that for you, and I hope that you'll enjoy it and that it will be ideal for those moments with your child and your life in general.

To an extent, I can understand how you feel. I have owned a Nextbit Robin 2x. The last time, I really wanted to love it and I thought that I would keep it. That size though was really annoying to deal with so I can understand the size comments. I wish that the Honor 8 was slightly smaller too xd

Use whatever you like best! I do agree that the camera on the s7 is wicked fast.nothing comes close.

I am glad you found the phone that works for your needs. I had a S7 earlier in the year and now have the Honor 8. Both are excellent devices.
I too have a young kid but who is at a age now that I can manage with the Honor 8.

Hah! I just realized I can't put it up for sale here quite yet. I dont have the post count.... which is weird cause I've been a member for a while.

S7 is really a great choice. I too love clicking on my smartphone and if you ask me I would also choose the galaxy S7 not for it's comfort in holding but only for its camera. It's a great phone with all the features it has to offer. You have to see which phone suits you the best and I think you just did the same.

What did you like best about the s7 camera?

Thanks for the heads up on swappa. I do need to start getting back into forums.... I got burnt out back in the gingerbread days.

To be fair...my first phone was on froyo! Not sure how old that makes me

Yep that was the big turning point. I got on upgrade from Froyo to Gingerbread and half my stuff stopped working! It was on the HTC Inspire 4g (But really wasn't 4g! Stupid ATT and back hauling.....). Before that I was had a few windows mobile phones like the HTC tilt and diamond.

@burtonvdp - thanks for sharing your thoughts! I do agree with you on the fingerprint sensor for sure. On the Honor 8 it's BLAZING fast!

Per a suggestion I posted the phone on Swappa. Is there any rules about putting a link up to the sale?

Yes, can't post a link to an external site especially for sale items. Good luck though, it will sell quickly on Swappa.

I sent you a PM or private message on AndroidCentral, I have a friend who is looking for one after drooling over my Honor 8. Let me know. Thanks.
