Which other phones ... $300.00, $400.00, flagship or mid tier?

My choice boiled down benefits for the price.
So many other phones are too expensive or fall short in quality and performance compared to the honor 8.

I think the price tag is the main reason most of us are here now.

I would say I chose it because of it features, quality of build and cost. Today I stopped in a sprint store to see what they had and nothing compared with my H8. The list included HTC, LG and Samsung.

It depends on the promotions that you are asked to get. For example you could have gotten the unlocked Verizon pixel for$240 plus $100 gift card last month.

If you don't want and hassle then in the same price range, there are other options like the Moto z play, OnePlus 3, ZTE Axon 7. As to which is best, depends on your needs. But the honor 8 is pretty good and well rounded

It's definitely the quality and features for the price. I did a lot of research before buying the Honor 8. Nothing else really came close, throw in the Amazon deal and it was a no brainer. Glad I did, no complaints about it.

The Honor 8 software interface experience alone sets it apart from any other device on the market. It's seamless and different but in good way being a hybrid of both major softwares Android and Apple. Then you factor in the high end performance, it stunning build and size. You would be very hard pressed to find any other device for the money better than or equal the Honor 8. I've yet to find anything to compare it to. Theres simply nothing like it. To me that's a tribute to the innovation from the Honor 8. Unique and refreshing in a oh so similar experience either Apple or Android. I did just buy the Moto Z on Amazon for 499 but I did so bc I like the Moto mods. I still think the Honor 8 is a better device overall. If there was one thing I'd change would for it to have higher than 1080p. Not a big deal but would have been nice. Also it's size is just right for a one hander phone. My Moto Z is 5.5 inches and it's a two hander. I can use the honor with one hand. At the same time it's not overall small either at 5.2. I've seen the killer prices on Amazon. I wanted a 64g but when I got mine the 32g was 349 which to me at the time was still a good deal. Current pricing is insane good. I may break down and pick up a 64g in pearl color but only if I send my moto Z back which I'm pondering now. I think the Honor 8 is by far one of the best phones on the market right now.

I got my honor 8 on my contract, I could have chosen any phone and after researching the handsets I couldn't justify anything else. I feel I took a risk from what I read about EMUI, but it was unfounded trepidation.
I couldn't see the point in paying over the odds for a phone with minimal advantages over the honor 8. When the phone turned up and I got to use it, I couldn't understand the bad reviews of EMUI. It's a good UI with a few minor "problems" but with far more useful added features. Since joining the nougat beta all of these issues are gone. Emui5 is one of the best UI I have used and as a result I haven't felt the need to fall back on a 3rd party launcher like I had with every previous phone

Great question, OP! My current phone - an LG G3, which I love - is starting to show its age, and I didn't want to get a contract phone or put up with any hassle from my carrier, so I decided to buy an unlocked device. Since I didn't have a ton of money to spend, I decided to look at midrange phones; and had originally decided on an Asus Zenfone 3. But the Honor 8 caught my eye.

I decided on the Honor 8 because it was at the right price for my budget and for me to buy outright; it had many features that I liked/will like (ie, camera improvements, LED, display size, decent battery, and even the colour, and of course, I'm intrigued by EMUI); and it comes with a good reputation from Android Central and other tech users. It was a huge plus to buy a phone, unlocked, at that price point. I've never done unlocked before, and so I wanted a device that delivered flagship performance but on an affordable budget. The Honor 8 was that phone for me.

Plus, there are not really any flagships out there at the moment that are really intriguing me. I was thinking about the V20 off and on, but I like trying other manufacturers with each new upgrade. I am very excited to finally try it out! :)

I chose the Honor 8, you just can't beat it for the price, it looks better than any other phones, the cameras are fantastic, it's as fast and smooth as the Pixel, and I'm one of the few who love EMUI, I would not change a thing about this phone.

My other phone is the HTC 10 which I still feel is the most underrated flagship if 2016. An all around amazing experience great build and great software. I have tried the v20 returned it, tried apple again returned it. Tried the axon 7 and returned it. Not one of those gave me the experience that my 10 has since it came out.

I have always wanted to try the honor 8, it's such a beautiful phone and it always felt snappy at best buy. I pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. There isn't one thing I don't like about this phone not one. At first I was like skeptical of the 1080 screen after having flagship phones. I can't tell a difference with this screen from my HTC.

EMUI is absolutely amazing it is my favorite experience on a phone when it comes to UI. It just does so many things so well. It's not a copy of anyone single UI. It's I dare say a perfect meld of features found through out the whole mobile world.

I can say that the days of flagship hunting are over for myself. This phones best feature is that it is a flagship for 300 bucks.

I agree. There is simply nothing on the market nearly or similar to the Honor 8. It's in lots of subtle ways different in every aspect but in a very good and enjoyable way. I love EMUI and I loved it from day one. I enjoyed learning the new interface plus it's seamless and smooth which is what you want from a software of course. If I had to pick between Android pure, iOS pure or the hybrid mixture of both of those mentioned, I'd pick EMUI first. My roots are apple only up until last year. I still miss having an iPhone but the Honor 8 interface is so well presented that I've grown to like it over everything. It's a perfect device with almost a below market value price tag. Well done Honor.

It was between the Honor 8, the Axon 7 and the One+ as a replacement for my Nexus 6. I wanted something that wasn't a big as the Nexus which, while a great phone, is getting old and the battery in my example was pretty weak now. I was concerned with ZTE's track record of software updates which isn't great. and the One+ was significantly more expensive at the time I bought on Black Friday. That left the Honor 8. No regrets after a few weeks so far. Great phone

There are some nice iOS themes you can download to get the look of iOS 10. Scroll through download then move file to hwthemes folder and apply it from the themes app.

Honor 8 or other phones.. Which would you choose and why?

Well it depends on a few factors for my personal line I have Att I would choose the h8 or s7 edge love them both but overall I tend to gravitate back to h8 can't beat the fluidity of the device. But I have sprint for work h8 is not option. So it comes down to carrier and price. Price is awesome on the h8 if you can use it on your carrier I would highly recommend it
