Hi everyone. I'm an avid fan and a daily user of the Honor 8. No real complaints but I have an itch to upgrade. I'm very impressed with the reviews and specs on the HTC U11. It's a little tad expensive but is it worth $600? The Honor 9 also looks good on paper and I bet the US price range would fall in the $450 - $499 range. Problem is, when if ever will the North America market have access to the Honor 9?

Are you in the US? If so, the Honor 9 released elsewhere will not be fully compatible with US GSM/CDMA networks.

U11 on the other hand is compatible with US networks.

It is definitely a difficult choice. I too love my 8 and am thinking of the 11. I think that if you're itching for something new and a new experience to boot, try the U11. You can always return it if you don't like it! If you really enjoy your Honor experience and love EMUI, perhaps sticking with Honor is your better option. You can't go wrong either way! :)

Morty2264. I went for it. I bought the U11 red color so I'm excited. Thank you for your input.

U11 is a great phone for sure. Honor 9 has a big question mark as there's no official USA release date or pricing. If I were looking for something today then between a phone that I can buy now and a phone that i might be able to buy sometime in the future for an unknown price....

I would pick the known anytime.

Agreed. I'm hoping for sub $400 price as well.

I think that a sub $400 price is likely if its released unlocked like the honor 8. The Honor 8 didn't sell well, so raising the price on the Honor 9 would be a bad move, IMO.

Honor 9 is probably better bang for bucks. I hope it's$399 when it's released.
This is all speculation at the moment as we don't have the phone released for the US. Even if you import this phone over to US, as the OP wants, it won't work well with the cellular networks here due to lack of many key bands. So, the price tag, whatever that may be, is an expensive risky purchase at the moment.

Not to mention warranty. I learned my lesson the hard way when i got the international unlocked lg g4 which bootlooped and LG USA wouldn't warranty it due to it not being a USA spec phone... Despite it supporting USA LTE.

I think it will be. Their Kirin 950/960 phones were active since 2016 so if they release honor 9 later this year with Kirin 960, that almost 2 years old chip!

It is also on 16nm fab which is significantly worse than the 10nm that Qualcomm is using in the s835.
