Really hoping to get my hands on Android 5.0 today on this tablet. I ordered a Nexus 9 off Amazon, waiting for it to ship. Might go to Best Buy today and buy it and cancel my Amazon order if they have some left tonight.

Well, the Nexus 9 is officially for sale now, so I'd imagine they're going to start the Lollipop rollout. Unless they don't have many in stock, your Best Buy will probably have one when you stop by :D

Any way to sideload the Lollipop upgrade? (or a place that has the file needed) I recall doing that once before with Kit Kat. I'm not talking about the process where you wipe your tablet. This one alllowed you to update without having to start from scratch, almost as easily as OTA.

I think your referring to loading the Factory image onto your device. Once Google releases the Factory images for your device you can. As of right know no factory images have been released

That's it. I forgot the exact terminology. The absence of those factory images seems to point to nobody actually getting it yet. :(

Sorry, the current process of loading the factory image DOES wipe the device. There may be some OTA (once the software is official) that will allow you to upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop without losing your data, but just just to unlock the bootloader (before you even load a new firmware) wipes the device.

They must have changed it in the last year. When I used the image it definitely did NOT wipe the device. You're probably referring to the pre-release for developers that does wipe the device. But when I did it on Kit Kat last year it was something started from the command line that only updated the system data without touching anything else. It was like OTA but with a locally stored file instead.

If your device is unlocked, I believe there is a way to modify the flash-all.bat/sh so that it doesn't wipe the device. Maybe that's what you did? Because by default it wipes everything.

No I didn't have to modify anything or root the device.
