Horizontal gray band across screen

Waiting to hear back from Google support but I can't imagine this isn't a RMA defect batch in case others have issues posting here.

(1) Had phone 12 hours, turned on at 8pm last night, fine this morning, used it for about an hour setting it up with no issues then...

(2) On Hangouts and suddenly noticed a gray band in middle of screen even with down volume rocker and noticeably more pronounced on right side near down volume rocker with a slight bubble look

(3) Appears to have gotten darker but no issues before it suddenly appeared

(4) On reboot it shows also on Google splash screen (boot up)

(5) On all screens but a screenshot does not capture the defect only pictures with another phone

Had ordered the white XL 4-October just arrived 21-November shipped from CA do not sure if this is a new batch from OEM overseas or not.

Will post updates, images attached, likely a OEM defect or something I'd imagine, Cest La Vie this kind of stuff happens, hopefully it's isolated to just mine or a few.

Will update when get call back from Google.

Just noticed some discolored screen on side too, note it was not dropped or anything.

Definitely needs replacing.... Sucks after waiting so long but hopefully they will expedite your replacement

Yup I figure it would, not a big deal, first time I've had a RMA so I'm overdue I guess.

Hopefully limited to mine, maybe I'll go buy a lotto ticket today!

Getting new one RMA'ed expedited so arriving by Friday so says shipping info so that's good.

Definitely a new one here though, had it on for less than 12hrs so hopefully it's a damage en route issue and not a defect.

Most likely it was damaged in route. Carriers aren't exactly ... careful w/ packages haha.

Agree ... This one is coming from the IL warehouse, last one came in from CA I assume off a boat via ground delivery across the country.

They must keep some obviously on hold for RMAs. Moral may be to pay for faster delivery option assuming it guarantees a higher priority bucket for your package.

I assume based on the defect, just guessing here, something caused stress at that seem of volume rocker (heat, cold, compression).

Is there a way to talk to Google customer service over email or chat for a replacement? Or only by phone? Do you have have Link? It keeps sending me in circles!

Go to settings and scroll all the way to the bottom...support and tips....it will open the attached window with chat options.

I have this issue too. I received it yesterday evening. today in the afternoon, this appeared.

it's pretty disappointing considering how much this phone costs.

Price doesn't excuse anything from defects :).
 
This is really unacceptable for a phone in this price range...... all the screen issues, and mid-range build and look for a flagship phone?

These are the reasons I changed my plans on picking up an XL 2. LG should be as embarrassed as hell.

I can't believe after watching their competitors struggle mightily to sell 1000 dollar phones they're still going to try that with the pixel XL 3...... I guess every company thinks their special and need to learn for themselves lol.
