I purchased the 16 GB samsung tablet 10.1 at BB last Friday. I realized after playing with it that there's a built in hotspot. I managed to turn it on but then lost all connectivity so I shut it off. Not sure if I did something I wasn't supposed to do...but any idea why there's a hotspot on the tab 10.1..since it's a wifi only version?

Are you sure its not just a synced app from your android phone? I don't have a hotspot on mine...

I downloaded a free app called Elixir which basically tells all about the device you're on. You can also use Elixir to set up shortcuts on the desktop of the tablet and place them in nice columns and/or rows. In any event?I set up some shortcuts for my most used apps...but there was also an icon to turn on and off a hotspot. So I was curious and placed this shortcut on the desktop and when I selected it?it turned on the hotspot for the Samsung tablet 10.1. I configured the hotspot and placed a WPA password on it and it showed up on the bottom of my desktop computer screen along with all other wireless networks in my range. If I remember correctly?it said something like Tablet. I turned it off because I was not able to get Wi-Fi while the hotspot was active and it really did me no good as I already have the Samsung Droid Charge as a hot spot and my home router for internet access on the tablet.

It's quite possible that this is a function embedded in the OS for the cellular versions, and was hidden for the WIFI only flavors
