Hey guys and whatever rare girls enjoy the fantastic world that is pre release cell phone message boards. I was wondering how active these forums are once the phone in this case the Bionic is released? I ask because ive grown rather addicted to reading this board and im guessing that this is the type of place where i could find out when the bionic gets root and all sorts of other goodies. Hope somebody can answer this one for me. Thanks in advance

Re: Quick question from a Noob

I'd recommend just popping into one of the already-released phone forums and checking out the activity there. That should answer your question.

Will do. I also wonder how many of you will be checking in to this forum after the phone is released?

Especially waiting for the dev community and talking about tips, tweaks and other stuff I see it staying active.

:)

There are always topics like - Problems with the phone, Rooting the phone, OS updates, etc. They are very active.

For a short time, you'll get lots of posts from folks who just got their Bionic and talking about how it's the most amazing thing ever.

Then for a few weeks (hopefully not months), you'll get lots of "problem" posts- with folks complaining about problems X, Y, and Z, and how this was the worst phone ever made.

After a couple months, things will settle out and you'll get lots of talk about tips/tricks, rooting the phone, different ROMs, etc. It'll be pretty active for about a year, maybe a year and a half if the Bionic sells extremely well. Then things will start winding down slowly, until about 2 years out when it'll get pretty slow around here.

Yeah just about time when folks will be ready for their 2 yr upgrades. I look forward to seeing what will be there after my bionic.

Exactly!

Plus it's new, different, and trust me it gets a lot of traffic. People want this phone. It reminds me of the first Droid X when it came out.

Yea I think alot of Droid x owners who got their X around last year's launch date, are going to upgrade to the Droid bionic soon.

I'll be going full retail on the Bionic, but I have to agree that I hope there's an active dev community. I'm on the Charge and sadly the only actively worked on ROM these days is Gummy. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I miss having 4 or 5 people working off of each other like with the OG Droid.
