How are the photos attached to an SOS call & which photos are used?

So far, not one source I've seen describing the SOS feature of the Galaxy S8, has explained exactly "how" the photo(s) are attached (or the audio recording for that matter) nor does anyone explain if it grabs the pic from a new shot or the gallery. ... the latter, of course, posing a potential problem!
Can anyone please shed some light on this topic? Thx a bunch!

The nature of the app would suggest that it takes a new photo since using an unknown old photo would be counter-productive.

Chuckles! I can envisage some amusing scenarios as the device uses a pic from a recent dirty weekend.....
