Question in the title.

Been hearing that both LG and Samsung really just DGAF when it comes to their unlocked phones. I was considering the unlocked V30, but if it's even worse on updates, I don't know why I'd bother.

I got the September's security update on the 12th October, still waiting for Android 8 update. I have the V20 unlocked version.

How's your experience been w/ the unlocked version in general? Updates a big deal do you think or hasn't really been an issue?

I own an unlocked one. Here in India we get unlocked versions.

AFAI have seen if u r dead straight that u want timely updates it's not gonna work with LG.because they are disaster when it comes to is updates.i bought it on April and have sent only sec updates after every 2 months.
Oreo,God knows when we will get.i guess I will have the biscuits till that time

However I do want to say that their OS Updates are good.they do mention there are performance improvement and it's actually there.u can feel it.for eh my phone has become really smooth since September update and hardly any battery drain.it remains cool all the time .
Regarding unlocked version ,I don't get carrier bloat and trust me it's a big thing.i like it.i get to enjoy how the phone as meant to run.
I have never used a carrier version and won't be right to comment.but when I see the wholesale for bloats it's just outward bad.

I also have an unlocked version, a 990DS. I have had a few updates in the past few months. I received the phone with the April security update installed, it soon got the July update in August, I also just received the September security update last week. I had the US unlocked version at first, which never received an update!

I don't really think about updates. & I also want the unlocked version so I don't get the bloatware too, but I wanted to ask somebody that has had an unlocked version about the lack of timely updates & if it's been an issue because I'm going to be getting the unlocked version of the V30

How's the performance been w/ everything?

Maybe for all of us concerned, we should just hold off purchasing until Oreo gets released.

Not an issue to me as at some point the unlocked version gets the first major android version

The US Unlocked versions of any phone always never get updates, or it's very rare and takes a long time. I have not seen any updates, mines the V20 US unlocked version. But the upside is that I still have the data on/off toggle shortcut (AT&T disables that), no additional branded boot screen which takes 2x longer to boot, no bloatware, etc. I'm happy with it. It'll take a while till they update, I'm fine with it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"... a very good and old saying. Updates sometimes have bugs and causes crashes and issues. If it's working fine now, then that's a good thing.

No security updates?
