I am used to a notification light, this is legit my only issue with the phone as of now so I need to use Always on to at least see the notification visual...How bad of a hit is this generally on battery life?

It was of negligible impact on my 2 XL but it was sucking 16%+ per day on the 3 XL so I disabled it for now. That's just too much of a drain for me.

Yes it did. I monitored it for a few days and it was in that range every day. It was surprising (and disappointing). Like I said, it barely registered anything on the 2 XL.

Have you tried anything to see if u can correct it ? Yeah it's top on your list. Sometimes a quick reboot can fix issues
My Pixel 2 will suck down 2% an hour while I sleep with the AOD on. If I turn it off it's about 0.5% an hour.I am used to a notification light, this is legit my only issue with the phone as of now so I need to use Always on to at least see the notification visual...How bad of a hit is this generally on battery life?

Me too!I like AOD more than the small amount of battery it takes to have it. For me it will stay ON.
That's always been my reasoning to. I love the information I get from the AOD at a glance and it's continued to get better. Time, weather, now texts and emails will come across it in snippets so I can see what they are. To me the functionality of the AOD far outweighs the little bit of extra drain it uses and overnight I'm going to charge anyway most of the time.I'm doing the test right now. As above, my AOD would be the top of the battery list at the end of the day.
But, as I still had 40-50% left when I went to bed, I still charged over night. So at that point it doesn't really matter to me if I'm on 40% with AOD on or maybe 60% with AOD off, since I'll be charging over night anyways.
