How can I adjust my notifications panel brightness?

OK, so I just go the Galaxy S5 and while setting it up I have tried to adjust the brightness of the notifications panel (it's so bright I can only see the color of the battery power icon). I have gone into settings and have not been able to adjust it. When I go into the Setting panel I select the Notifications panel button and all it has is a check mark for Brightness adjustment, that's it nothing else. How can I adjust this?

The Brightness adjustment is for the whole screen, not the notification panel. I don't believe there's a way to adjust the brightness of just the panel.

So, the issue was the picture I had as my background screen was bright white at the top and causing the issue. smh I changed the picture and problem was resolved. YAY
