How can I change text message font size

After recent update I can not change the font size of a text message...using Samsung text app that came with S7 Edge. I can change the size of who sent message and the actual message size can change via pinching but not permanently, you have to do it for every message thread and it then goes back to being small again. Help I am older and need the bigger font to stay the size I pick.

Use your volume buttons when the text app is open

Settings>display>font but it will change it for pretty much everything. I don't think it will affect the homescreen but I'm not sure. It's easy to change if you don't like the results.
Found another way, in the messaging app, conversation list, hit more at the top, then font size, uncheck use system, then pick the size with the slider.
