How can I disable (ideally remove) Bixby?

Hello

How can I remove Bixby from my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus (Android 11)?
I can't even find any way to disable it!

I have stopped it from firing up when I hit the Power button (on the left), but I can see that Bixby still has access to my Camera, my Contacts, my Location etc. I regard this as a violation of my privacy.

Do I have to "Root" my phone? If so how to I do that?

PS I want to keep the Samsung Stylus stuff, but I am not happy about Bixby. It seems impossible to disable, and it has access to my Camera, my Contacts and my Location....

Rooting isn't as much of a necessity anymore, so the first question you should answer is if you have a specific reason to root in the first place. Android has become a lot more customizable so that most users no longer need it. I don't know about Samsung specifically, but rooting may also void your warranty, and I'm pretty sure will prevent you from viewing streaming services in HD video.

As for the process itself, stay away from any "one click" or automatic rooting programs (I.e Kingroot). Those are notorious for installing malware deep into the system, such that even a factory reset may not clear it. The best source of this sort of info is the XDA Developer forums. If it's possible, there should be a thread for it there. Just make sure you follow the instructions for your specific model exactly. For example, don't use something like a Sprint Note 10 method for a Verizon branded Note 10. While you're at it, you should also research how to recover from a hard brick before you start, in case something goes wrong during the process.

To get clear, what is compelling me to want to Root my Note 10+ is the fact that I can't seem to stop Bixby from spying on me via my Phone, my Contacts and my Location.

Bixby is the least of your worries in terms of spying. It's Google, Facebook and all the others you need to worry about.

I agree that Google and Facebook are worse. I am weaning myself off Facebook. e.g. I am moving all my friends off Whatsapp onto Signal Messenger and will shortly shut down Whatsapp completely.

Google is a major problem. The think is that you need a gmail account in order to use Google Play, and (if I'm correct) without Google Play you can't update your apps.

On the upside, you are no longer COMPELLED to supply a mobile phone number in order to have Gmail account. So for my new mobile phone I have simply set up a new Gmail account. I have also set up a new Gmail account for public/spammable use on forums etc. Every few month I shall set up a new gmail account.

BUT I am told that Google no longer bother to use Cookie tracking, because nowadays they already know who you are through some other means! [How sinister is that?!] [But how do they do it?]

Either way, I'm absolutely NOT having it. I point-blank refuse to have Bixby spying on me. So how in God's name do I uninstall damned Bixby?

If your in the US it's pretty hard to root , and if done wrong it will break Samsung pay,Samsung pass,health app and few others for good on the device

I'm in the UK. I don't give a damn about Samsung Pay, I don't use Samsung Pass. I can live without their Health app too.

But Bixby has to go. I need to either stop it from accessing my Camera, My Contacts, My Location etc OR I need to uninstall it completely.

Why are Samsung being so Evil? Why are they violating our privacy like this?

P.S. Is it possible to put a good, completely different operating system in that does not involve Google?

I have used it and it was fine. I also used to use their other version you got from their website. It always worked for me and quite a few people on this forum. But it is your choice to install or not.

If you want an eyeopener about google spying, I have been using google rewards for years and doing surveys. I can walk pass some stores and the next survey they send me will give a list of stores with the one I walked pass and ask me if I visited any of those stores.

You will no longer be able to access some banks and businesses. You will not be able to install some apps to access your workplace payroll and other services. If you trip knox, it is not easy to get it back. Anything that uses knox will be lost to you.

My wife and I discussed changing our car insurance. We did not do any searching on any device but we both started getting relavent ads on Facebook and Instagram. Frankly I just assume I am being spied on thru several sources but have nothing to hide so who cares. Your information is being sold by so institution you deal with as we speak so short of going to live in a cave, there are very few options to 100% avoid it.

No one is violating your privacy. A privacy violation, in technical terms, is an intrusion of your privacy without consent. I guarantee that either the EULA, your contract, or related governing document has language in there that basically gives your consent by using the phone. You may not like it, which is certainly your prerogative, but that does not make it a violation.

Since it seems that Bixby is your biggest concern, I would suggest going with another Android manufacture. I highly doubt they would be using it to sneak around in your data outside of the consent you've given already (as mentioned above), but there are a lot of other brands or there besides Samsung.

Bixby is the least of your worries in terms of spying. It's Google, Facebook and all the others you need to worry about.

I would venture forth to add that most apps ask for permissions and we so often hit "yes" without realizing what could potentially happen. Lots of things are spying on us - but I too think that Bixby is the lesser of the evils!

I don't give a damn what the lawyers say. Yes, probably within the small print I have agreed to Samsung/Google/Facebook to harvest my very soul. I simply don't care. I do NOT want effin Bixby to have my data.

And I am starting to fight back with Google and Facebook. I simply don't trust them. Like every online database you can name, they either have or will get hacked. Moreover we all know that the secret services are TOTALLY out of control - you only need to look at the whole UAP issue to see how much they serially and repeated lie to us tax-payers. It's absolutely disgusting. And presumably the secret services also have access to hack into our phones & computers whenever they want.

No only am I serially changin my email addresses, I am also stuffing INCORRECT DATA into every place that demands my data.

As I see it, we all have a moral duty to not sleep walk into a police / surveillance state, just because they have made it seductively convenient.
Our very liberty is at stake. Wake up people.
