How can I disable this Camera Button ? It always gets held too long by accident

This Evo is pretty nice, but on balance, I'd rather not have the camera button for taking photos if I can't separately turn off the "feature" where it brings up the camera from anywhere by holding the button in for 3 seconds. It's always getting pressed in by accident and bring up the camera, sometimes causing work to be lost or having to start over, the way this phone handles program switching.
Is there any way to just turn it off?

Not that I've ever discovered. At least not on the stock build. There might be a way if you root, but that's out of my league.

Here's what worked for me (Motorola Razr i / Android 4.1.2):

1. Root is required
2. Install Root Browser
3. Open the Root Browser and go to the folder /system/usr/keylayout/
4. Open, one by one, all ".kl" files with the Root Browser editor and place a hash symbol (#) at the start of the lines where the word "CAMERA" appears. Example: the text "key 212 CAMERA" becomes "#key 212 CAMERA".
5. Restart your device
