Facebook Contacts File Transfer

I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S4 and just got a Galaxy Note 5. I was able to transfer a good chunk of contacts over but noticed that many of them were missing. My S4 had about 1200 contacts and the transfer moved 700 over. That's quite a few I'd rather not transfer manually or one by one.

After some digging I found out the remaining contacts were from Facebook; at least originally. I did some research and discovered that Facebook and Google/Android no longer have a sync ability for syncing Facebook contacts into the contacts app. When I look at a Facebook-only contact, it says that it is saved in my phone to my gmail account. But I can't find any way to get these contacts over to the new phone. I have been searching for the database location of the Facebook contacts file but can't find it or even the regular contacts database file.

I have searched for where this is stored on the phone and can't seem to find it. I have looked in data/data and the folder that everybody says the database exists in isn't there. I'd rather not root it if I can avoid it...

Any type of export I've attempted only allows me to export the other 700 contacts. I can do a name card share but only one at a time.

Am I missing something else?

Both phones are running Lollipop.

Welcome to Android Central! I'm not sure if there's a good solution for you. Contacts are stored in an SQLite database file on a protected system directory, so you wouldn't be able to access them unless you're rooted.

Here's one possible workaround, but after the Facebook API change last year, it's gotten even more difficult. Read the message on the Friends To Gmail site for more details.
