How can I fix a black screen on my S6 Edge Plus?

hi, have just received a free upgrade from my carrier from S6 edge to edge plus due to issues with phone and how it was dealt with. (sweet result) but i have just had a problem with this phone now. the wallpaper disappeared and went black while everything else slowed down to a snails pace and wouldn't respond properly. this has happened 2 now and i have to do a soft reset to fix. starting to worry has anyone else out there had this problem with this phone and if so know why and how to fix. would appreciate any help or advice. thanks.

Take it back if you can, sounds like its defective, mine has never done that but it doesnt sound good!

I had a similar problem. Mine was from the stock messages app. I got the black screen and the only was to resolve it was to lock the screen then unlock it again. Also my home screen wouldnt load properly sometimes and i had to hit the home button again. Finally my messages app became unresponsive from crappy at &t backup and sync. I forced stopped that process and cleared data for messages app and problems went away. If messages app isnt your issue than likely some rogue app is causing it. Check settings/device/applications/running. There's a good chance that one of those is causing it.
