How can i fix audio increasing randomly?

[Android Central Question]

I have an issue where my volume rocker will increase the volume to max at any given moment. If I reduce the volume it'll increase again and keep repeating this for a few seconds and then be fine for a while. No accidental clicks or anything it will just increase by itslef, just started one day and was fine before that.
Please let me know what is wrong and how to fix the issue

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? If you have a case on, try taking it off. If it still happens with the case off, try cleaning around the button using 99% rubbing alcohol, in case there's any residue in there that's causing the button to stick.
