how can I fix my LG keyboard without resetting my phone to factory mode?

I have a Verizon LG smartphone and my keyboard stopped working. I can't access anything because my phone is locked! I don't want to reset it to factory setting because I have so much on my phone that I can't lose. Someone please help!!
