This whole thing started about a month ago. I didn't download anything, and as I was watching YouTube, my Motorola Droid Z restarted and brought me to a black screen that said "Your device has failed verification and may not work properly. Your device will boot in 5 seconds." After about 3 loops of this screen, my phone started. This did not happen until the next day, when the same exact thing happened. This went on just about every single day until just this April 8th, 2018, when my phone would not start. The screen had displayed the same message, but this time, it would not start on its own. I pressed and held the power button but this did nothing. I let my phone sit overnight hoping that the phone would either run out of battery or change screens, but neither of these things happened. I tried all of the buttons, but nothing changed. Then, I held the power button and the down volume button and the screen turned black, then changed to an Android reset screen with things like "Power Off", "Bootloader Reset", etc. Using the volume buttons to go scroll up and down, I selected a Bootloader Reset and then started the phone. This worked and I would do this every day that this happened. My dad, who works for Merril Lynch in computers, looked at my problem and said that there wasn't anything we could do about it because other people have had the same problem and don't have a solution other than a factory reset, which I am against. But, today, on the bus ride to school, my phone decided to reset itself; like always, I went into the Android reset settings and selected the Bootloader Reload and then the Start button. My phone went through the whole Droid starting sequence and brought me to the password screen, where my phone was fine for about 2 seconds, before resetting itself again and bringing me to the "failed verification" screen again. I tried the Bootloader Reset and it did the exact same thing; brought me to the password screen for about 2 seconds, froze, and brought me back to the verification screen. I went through this loop for about 20 minutes before my phone finally didn't freeze up when I was on the lock screen, But, this was only for about 1 minute before it brought me back to the bootloader verification fail screen again. Then, my phone kept on doing the lock screen freezing for a few more minutes before getting my phone unlocked for another 1 minute before going back to verification. Is there ANYTHING I can do to save my phone without factory resetting the whole thing? I'm desperate here.
