I have an S3 the I747M with Telus and I want to basically just wipe the software and run a pure 4.2 on my phone with no bloatware or anything. Is this possible to do and will my phone still work well after the upgrade?

Any info would be appreciated
Thank you

That would require root and loading a rom (if one is available) for 4.2. You can check the XDA forums, they have a lot of rooting info.

Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136840
[ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom 1.5 beta JB 4.2.2 [d2vzw] ? Mar 3
This is the link for the Verizon firmware, but there's a possibility that there's a version of Carbon ROM for your carrier. You can also check out https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...details?id=com.s0up.goomanager&token=l6I5qQdf, which is an app that you can use to find/flash ROMs (once your phone is rooted).

All I am trying to do now is root my phone. I have a macbook and I am running 4.1.1 on my phone so it seems to be a challenge rooting it

There's a toolkit for windows which is basically 1 click root. Not sure what's out there for Mac.

I thought Macs allowed you to run a VM of Windows, which might let you run one of the common root tools.
Or just see if one of your friends/coworkers with a PC will let you run it from their system - it probably only takes 10 minutes to do, assuming that you've downloaded all of the necessary files ahead of time.
