How can I get Google Now to work properly?

google now being stubborn

Hi,
so I just got a moto g 3rd gen. and it was ok. then all of a sudden a new "page" opened up on my device - when i swipe right i get to something called google now and it his "cards" and stuff. I hate this thing and want it to go away. BUT it doesnt have any settings button in it. neither can i find google now nor google search in my "apps".
any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! That's normal. It's Google Now, which has been part of the Google search app for a while. The phone has the Google Now Launcher as its "skin," which means when you swipe from left to right from the main homescreen, Google Now appears. If you don't like that setup, then install an alternate launcher. Nova Launcher is a good choice.

And the Google Search app is just called Google, and it has a blue icon.

Yes--although this is only in the App Drawer. If you're looking in Settings>Apps>All, it's actually listed as "Google App."
