How can I get my Nexus 7 out of a boot loop?

5.1 Boot loop

My 2012 N7 got 5.1 overnight and now it appears to be in a boot loop. It will get to the home screen and then after about 30 seconds or so it will reboot. I really don't want to factory reset (but can if I have to). Any ideas on how to fix this? The funny thing is that if I keep doing stuff on it, it waits to reboot. It's when the tablet sits idle that the thing reboots.

worked for me after the 5.02 update that messed it all up.

Nope...didn't fix it. Just going to do a factory reset.

Not going to do a factory reset. It won't let me. Even going into recovery mode it won't let me do a reset. I guess I'll try to wipe with ADB and re-flash 5.1?
