A
Android Central Question
Well, I made the question as self-explanatory as I could, but the situation is as follows; I have an ASUS ZenPad Z8 (P008-ZT581KL), and out of the blue it started misbehaving and forced me to reboot in the middle of a game I've played for two years. The first thing that came up was a quick flash of a screen telling me that my device is corrupted, with two URLS, one in white and the next in red.
I figured this should be an easy fix with a factory reset, right? Oh, hell no. I've run factory reset from fastboot and the tablet either never boots past the Verizon splash screen or makes it as far as "Initializing" and then locks up or reboots. I tried factory reset from the recovery menu. Most of the time it reboots in the other half of the Verizon splash screen and just keeps the cycle going until I make it stop by booting it into fastboot and shutting it down or hitting a button in the corruption alert screen to bring me to a preboot menu and shut down that way.
Essentially my copy of Android Nougat is dead, and there is no way for me to be able to salvage it as far as I can tell. Verizon has no way to help me and ASUS can't/won't send me the ROM that shipped with the tablet. In that case, I thought I would just root it and put a custom one on it; SOMEONE must have done it. Sure, with a working operating system.
I've searched high and low for some kind of guide out of a situation like mine and I haven't found it. I couldn't even find a stupid scatter file for this thing so I could format the partition table on it, and with this rebooting behavior trying to make one is a bloody nightmare, if not outright impossible.
I sincerely hope someone out there can lend a hand. I dread the idea of paying someone else just to fix a software problem.
