How can I get my Samsung Gear apps working?

samsung gear apps not working

My samsung gear s2 is connected to my galaxy s3 via bluetooth. The phone shows the icon and the gear app says it is connected. When I try to download a new app in the samsung gear apps I get the following message: "Unable to continue without your Gear connected. Connect your mobile device to your Gear ad try again." My gear IS connected. What do I do now? I have tried turning bluetooth off and on to reconnect, restarting my phone, ect.
