Rooted HTC One M8 Stuck at 4.4.3

Hi everybody, I'm in a bind and would really REALLY appreciate some help.

I have a HTC One M8 on Android 4.4.3, on EE in the UK. I rooted it a while back and I have team win recovery v2.1.0

I really want to upgrade to lollypop, but every ROM I can find requires at least version 4.4.4.

I'm not as techy as i thought i was and i'm in way over my head. I want to upgrade, maybe to a lollypop ROM but in a perfect world I'd just like to put my phone back to the way it was when I bought it (with OTA updates).

How do I go about doing this? If you could explain like I'm five that'd be great.

I really appreciate your help.

Re: Rooted HTC One M8 Stuck at 4.4.3

An update will always "fail" on a rooted phone. It's supposed to. (It actually aborts deliberately, it doesn't fail.) Updating a phone that could have parts of its OS changed (because it's rooted) with a standard update, could brick the phone.

Flash a stock 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 ROM to the phone, unrooted. (Back the phone up first, you'll lose everything - see Backing up an Android Phone.) Then let it update until there are no more updates left. (It will do only one every 24 hours.)

That's if you really want an OS that has a known memory leak and other major bugs.
