How can I open a locked pin on my Galaxy 5?

Was logging in to sign a petition on facebook and somehow I set a lock on my galaxy 5 which requires a pin. It told me I had eight chance...I used my usual pin hoping somehow it would work..NO..then I just randomly used pin that did not work either..I am down to my last try and wonder if I try will it prompt me with a "forgot your password" And since it is numbers how could it remind me?
