How can I pull the photos off my smashed phone it when I plug it in?

The screen is completely smashed. (Fell out of my pocket and got ran over by a car).
When I plug my phone into my laptop it recognizes it, but it doesnt come up as a drive on my computer. Is there some sort of driver I can download to bypass having to allow access from the cell phone?
