How can I remove the carrier name from the lock screen on the Moto X Pure Edition?

Anyone know how to remove the carrier name from the top left of the lock screen? Mine says "Verizon Wireless." I think it was on the bottom on my Moto X 1st gen. which was fine. I hate the location on this phone.

I think that might be the default for Lollipop.

The only way that I know of is root.

Not sure if this is still an option:

Settings->More->Cellular Networks

Then unclick show mobile network.

At least thats how i turned mine off on the moto x 2013

This doesn't exist on the new moto pure. But, the name doesn't stick up in the status bar anyway, only lock screen

Lock screen and notification panel.

This is how it's been on all my phones. The phone pulls it from the SIM and displays it. I think you can get rid of it with root but personally I wouldn't root for that.

Yeah, it's annoying, but doesn't rise to the level of rooting the phone.
