How can I retrieve lost photos and videos from my HTC Desire?

I am hoping to get some help on how to retrieve lost photos and videos from my HTC desire

All of a sudden my camera shots and videos have suddenly disappeared from my gallery. To my knowledge I didn't do anything to cause this to happen. All my Facebook photos, screen shots, photo app pics and pictures from my previous phone are there but nothing from the camera shots and videos from the past year, which is a shame because I have a 6 month old so all her pictures and videos are gone! I have searched many forums for help on steps on how to retrieve them but with no luck. They are not on any backup up files which they were this morning, I have downloaded file apps galore and what ever else I could do to try to restore them but I'm not finding anything. I don't own a pc so everything has to be done on my smartphone. As I mentioned above I have a HTC desire. Please is there anyone who can help me as I'm sure anyone can understand how important photos and videos can be.

Welcome to Android Central! You won't be able to recover anything without the help of a computer. Were the photos saved to Internal Storage, or to a microSD card? The latter makes it a little easier to recover--deleted files on Internal Storage can be very difficult to get back. Review this guide: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...-s/500142-guide-recovering-deleted-files.html

I'm pretty sure they were on my micro sd card and I'll go to use a friend's pc today. Thank you for your help

Go to PhotoRec and download the app on whichever computer you're going to do the recovery on. (I just got through helping someone with a 4 month old fix the same thing.)

Plug the card into a card reader, then into the computer.

Follow the step-by-step at PhotoRec Step By Step. If you can't follow it, post back here. (I'd run with Paranoid mode off, so I'd get even partial pictures.)

(Oops, most of that's in the guide, isn't it?)
