How can I save or locate downloaded books on the galaxy S4

I downloaded free books from online. I have no idea how to save them on the phone. If they are on the phone I have no idea how to retrieve them outside of the notification bar. Once opened from there they disappeared. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Use ES File Explorer. Use the search to look for the book. You can use wildcards, so for, say, War ans Peace, war* would find it. If it's a PDF file, *.pdf would find it.

It might be in your Download folder, but it might be somewhere else.
