How can I shut down Moto G without using the touch screen?

In a separate thread, I explained that my touch screen is not working due to water damage.

I want to shut down my phone (not reboot) in case that helps it recover. However, I can't press "shut down" on the screen. Is there a a way to shut it down using the power and volume buttons? So far everything I've tried has led to a reboot.

Pressing and holding Power may do it.

It doesn't. That reboots it.

In that case there may be damage. Disassembly to remove the battery may be an option. But read this:
