Help! Websites redirect to malware

I use opera mobile for browsing, and have also tried uninstalling and cleaning the cache.

When browsing, I get a pop up about my mobile having malware and get redirected to m.appsliu, whether I press back or not. This happens a lot from huffpost website, but sometimes from other sites too.

What causes this?? I don't have any suspicious apps (at least I think so) and can find very little information of this happening to anyone else...
When previous opera version used to start downloads automatically, the site also started a download that I deleted asap.
Help!!

Welcome to Android Central! Does that happen with other browsers, like Chrome or Dolphin?

Hi B. Diddy, thanks!
It doesn't seem to happen with chrome, I haven't tried others. I'm just very used to opera, so I wouldn't like to stop using it because of this, but I'm getting a bit worried... and i hope there's no malware on the phone!

Re: Help! Websites redirect to malware

Go to Settings>Apps, select Opera, and Clear Data along with the Cache. Also, does your Opera sync with a Desktop opera browser? Or do you log into your own Opera account? If so, make sure the history is cleared there, since it might be syncing back to Opera on your phone right after you clear its data.

Re: Help! Websites redirect to malware

I tried all of that... it didn't help. It's not syncing with anything either.
All I could think of was that it's certain ads that cause it to redirect, but can it be malware/app on my phone that's causing it, or a problem with opera? I'd highly doubt it's because of opera, since no one else seems to have this problem.

Re: Help! Websites redirect to malware

Not sure. I wonder if there's malware that targets Opera's engine specifically.

Re: Help! Websites redirect to malware

Damn... I might ask opera if they know of the issue. And try a factory reset for the phone. With some apps like PicsArt i keep getting notifications even though i turn the notifications off from app manager.. It just turns back on its own. I wonder if there could be malware causing it, but normally im very careful with my apps to check they're not dodgy like that :/
