How can I undo a remote lock on my phone, or remotely remove Google from my phone?

My new ZTE Axon 7 Mini locked me out after a systems upgrade, MIPOP, I think. I had it set to open with a fingerprint, but it won't. ZTE advised to set a remote lock through Google. It did not work. Contacted ZTE again and they said my phone is not equipped for the remote lock to work, and advised that I do a hard key reset. The page they sent me to,on how to do this, says I need to remove Google from my phone first, or it won't work. Help please.

Welcome to Android Central! You shouldn't have to remove your Google account before the reset -- that's only if you're resetting the phone to sell or give it to someone else. If you just do the hardware key reset, it will prompt you to enter your Google account and password. After that, it should let you proceed.
