mcafee question?

I have lg g3, lolipop 5.0. IS there any way to unistall mcafee mobile security? ( i got it with my mobile.) I want to unistall that, because i think that there are way better antivirus programs. But i cant install them ( two antivirus programs on same device isn't good).

And if some1 know some other security program who you used and shown like good ( mbam for mobile or something like that ) i would be thankful to hear your opinion.

And i think that i use some king of free mcafee here is picture ( i am not sure,some1 have different mcafee ?)

Re: mcafee question?

You should be able to go into the Application Manager under Settings and Disable it. Likely that it's installed as a system app so you can't uninstall it.

I would recommend removing or disabling ALL antivirus applications on your phone, as they mostly just slow your phone down and cause battery drain. Unless you are testing with malicious applications frequently.

Hi xocomaox, it appears I cannot disable the McAfee security application. Are there any workarounds, other than gaining root access and removing it that way?

Here is the screenshot, the disable option is faded out.

Re: mcafee question?

Did you activate the app? If you didn't, it shouldn't be running from what I remember. However, if you have activated you need to go into your McAfee account settings via a web browser and de-activate the app on your phone from there. I did it 10 months ago now so apologies if that's not quite the correct answer. I'm sure I got the info from another thread on here though, or possibly XDA forums, best of luck.

First try going into Settings, Security, Device Administrators and disable admin access for McAfee (unchecked). Then check Applications and see if you can Disable or Uninstall it.

Worst case, you will need root access to either delete the lg-mcafee.apk in \system\priv-app\ folder with a root file explorer like Solid Explorer or something OR uninstall it using Titanium Backup.

Nothing much I can do now without root access, I cannot disable the app but I managed to reset it which logs me out and prevents it from running in the background. The box was unchecked in device administrators already so I cannot disable the app. Looks like I'm leaning towards rooting the phone.

Re: mcafee question?

Are you able to click Force Stop? If so, does it give you an option to uninstall updates? If so, I believe you'll be able to disable it at that point.

This doesn't seem to work.., there are no REMOVE DEVICE buttons any more....

Any other ideas how to get MCAFEE SECURITY off an LG G3..?

Regards

I see that this is a problem to a lot of people.
What you have to do is:
1) Go to the app info (same screen you would disable the app) and click on Manage space
2.1) Mcafee will open and ask for your PIN (you have to remeber the PIN you defined). Enter your PIN.
or
2.2) Nothing will happen (it means that the app itself was never active).
3.1) If you entered your PIN, all the settings were restored. You must leave the app clicking back button.
3.2) If you didn't need to enter it, the settings are already blank. And you're good to go.
4) Go to Administrators screen (option under Security) and press ONCE to unmark Mcafee. Wait 1 minute untill the message "Disabled" appears.
Don't touch the screen while waiting. If the screen goes dark or turn itselfs off, leave it and check your clock for that 1 minute...
5) Exit the Admnistrators screen with the back button.
6) Go back the same screen and see if Mcaffe was unmarked as an Administrator. It should.
7) Now, you can force stop the app. Don't mess with its updates, just leave it there, won't do any harm.

you have to create a user account online then deactivate the phone then on the mobile you can take away phone admin rights then uninstall
