How did you activate the T-mobile X?

I received the phone today and started playing around with it under wifi.

The getting started guide says the sim is already in the phone. Do I now just take my current at&t phone over to t-mobile and port the number over? Will T-mobile just use the sim that came in the phone?

My understanding is that you'll have to unlock it and also use a T-Mobile sim. If I am wrong please let me know because I'm about to do the same thing. Lol

You will likely need a T-Mobile SIM card activation kit. You can buy one at Walmart or target. Or a T-Mobile store but probably more expensive there. You can find them at the T-Mobile store online too.

You can then activate the phone online and it will give you the option of porting your current number.

You can still use the SIM that came with the Moto X and just use those credentials when activating. Or use the SIM that comes with the kit, but nano SIM are hard to find.

Yeah, just go to a store, call their 800 number, or do it online (I think it can be done online too.) Setting up the SIM should be easy. If you do it in-store, they'll ask you your phone number, and for ID, and then scan the SIM to activate/tie it to that account.

Yeah I figured I would just go to the store since I need to port over 4 lines into a family plan. I was just wondering if I can play with the phone using wifi only. It's still showing signal and 4G LTE signs on the menu bar.
