How to add email sender to contacts

In both the gmail and email applications, on my Galaxy S4 I used to be able to tap on the sender and select add-to-contacts, but on my new Note 4, tapping on the sender does nothing. I can tap on a CC list entry and add them, just like before, but the sender field seems not to be selectable. I think this is a bug.

One way around it is to reply to the email, and then in that screen, tap on the to field to expand it, tap on the sender's email address and select add to contacts; then back out and don't send the reply. A lot of work to do something that used to be simple.

Am I missing something?

It depends on the email app. Try using Email. (I deleted the GMail app a long time ago - it's not ready for prime time.)

The only other workaround I found in Gmail was to use the S Pen and smart select.

I was able to add a recipient to contacts in the stock app by pressing their contact picture.
