how do I back up photo folders stored to phone

I have a Note 3 that I am going to have to get a replacement for, soon. I DREAD getting a new phone, because I HATE setting up a new phone. Getting everything back the way I want it is bad enough, but that is doable, it just takes time. What I have never been able to figure out, but I MUST figure out, is how do I back up or save my picture folders so I can get them back on my new phone? I have lots of folders, many I use for work, and all the folders are saved to the phone, not the SD card. I have tried hooking my phone to my laptop and copying the files to my computer but I am getting an error stating: Location is not available... c:\Users\mishele\pictures\pictures"\folder name"\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted or that you are connected to the internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.

Can someone please help me copy these picture folders, either to my SD card or to my laptop. There has to be a way.

Hi Mish65, welcome to Android Central.

I would use one of the prominent cloud based solutions out there. I use the built in google photos. It will let you select different folders https://photos.google.com/

You could also upload to Google drive and capture any other files on there. Again it can do other folders. https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive

There is also Microsoft onedrive, Box and many others for cloud.

If you just want to transfer them to your laptop. Have you got Samsung Kies installed? Kies | Samsung AU

Also check that you are in the correct USB mode. Its under settings near wifi.

I use photos from Google works great, for other stuff I use Google drive.

This isn't a problem with your phone. This is a folder on your laptop. Go recreate that folder in your Pictures folder and see if that fixes it. If not - the absolute easiest way to back up everything is to use Kies, from Samsung, it's free and will back just about everything up.
