I have a few questions about the incredible. so for anyone who knows about launces... im going to get the phone, i want to get the phone the first day its out. What should be the best stradegy, should i just go online and wait til it comes up? will it be online before its in stores? will most stores have them? can i call a verizon store on the day before the release date and ask if they have them in stock?... and will they answer me? also, last question, when looking at the verizon inventory screenshot of the htc incredible, what is the launch kit? im jw if thats like getting a bundle phone packcake that comes with headphones, case, sd card, etc... or maybe its just a store launch kit for them to buy and put up for display? thanks in advanced.

ok well first off they will not tell you anything until it has been officially announced and a date given.

The launch kit is all the press ads banners and display stuff the store needs to setup to promote the phone nothing you will ever get your hands on.

If you want to buy it on launch day simply go to your local VZW store best bet is a corporate store altho any authorized stores should have it, call once it is announced to be safe. This phone could be popular but will there be lines of people waiting or camping out? who knows

Usually unless there is an option to preorder it will not be available for purchase online until the launch day but i am not positive on that one.

Most of the time we will have them in stock in store with a decent amount of units to sell there are times how ever taht we do not have enough. I would say call day of and ask if we have them and how many we have. As for the launch kit that is something the store would use so the reps can learn the phone a little bit and so that we have a display model to put on the sales floor. Hope this helps you some.

The Incredible might be different, but when I was anxiously awaiting the Touch Pro 2, the stores did not have them available right away. The fastest way to get the phone was to call telesales as soon as they opened. The ship everything with next day delivery. They usually have a press release, in advance of the phone coming out, that will talk about when they will be available and where.

I usually buy online and use FREEOVERNT as a code to get free overnight shipping. My last phone upgrade I did at BestBuy, they are easy to deal with and don't have extra charges. They "honored" my NE2 by just giving me a discount on the phone on top of the lower price than Verizon's.

hey guys, great tips for sonic, but i have a related question. right now, my sister and i are on the same VZW plan to save some money. my NE2 is thankfully up so i'm definitely planning to get an incredible as close to release as i can. however, my sister lives in NYC and i live in DC. can anyone shed some light onto how difficult it will be to update my phone without the account holder (my sister) in the store with me? they should be able to call her up and authorize the transaction over the phone with her, correct?

thanks for the help!

if she is the account holder, the easiest way for you to do this would to have her call cs (*611) and have them authorize you to modify / extend contracts.

they'll ask her to give them a password as well, which the sales rep will ask for when you are there upgrading.

they can also call her cell that's on the contract, but the other way should make things faster for you in store.

All she does needs to do is add you as an authorized user on the account, and you will need some of her information, social, drivers license number possibly. But as long as you are authorized she will not need to be there. Things could have changed but this was the scenario I had a few months ago.

turbostang,

i've tried messing around with it, but i've found their website EXTREMELY inconvenient and confusing. for instance, when i try to log in with my phone, it rightly says that i cannot log in because i am not the account holder. so i log in with my sister's information since she's the account holder, and absolutely nowhere can i find a list of all the phones under her plan.

**i just spent another 10 minutes floundering around their insane website. i clicked on the help link "how do i upgrade my equipment?" here's what it says:

# Log in to My Verizon (new users will need to register first).
# Select the Account Maintenance tab.
# Click the Upgrade Phone tab.

logged into My Verizon and nowhere, NOWHERE, is there any sort of account maintenance tab or upgrade phone tab. it's extremely frustrating.

on top of this, i left out another detail of my situation. my entire family is actually on the same VZW plan, with my sister as account holder. my dad really doesn't care about upgrading phones, so i'm actually "stealing" his NE2 upgrade since mine was "stolen" by my mom a few months ago. i imagine with this kind of number/update swapping, my best bet is really to go into a store and get my sis on the phone.

but more importantly... F verizon's website, it makes me want to shoot myself in the face. /vent off

***EDIT: thanks Adiliyo and codeman! i'll probably just go about it that way.

the upgrades can be moved around on the plan, they really don't care who is getting the specific phone so long as contracts are being resigned. you should be fine

when they pull up the account info, they can see which line is eligible for renewal. just make sure she authorizes you to change any line on the account and not just yours.

the sale of the phone and extension of the contract is separate from where it's activated

itsafuntime: Hmm. Don't know. I just logged into my account. I see a "Upgrade Available" text link on my account page. Follow that and it asks which line to upgrade (I have 2 lines) and then continue on to select what phone you'd like. Perhaps you are not eligible to upgrade yet and so the link is not visible?
