How do I change my contact pictures?

Cannot Change Contact Pictures

For the last week or two when I attempt to change a contact's picture and select "Image" which takes you to the gallery, the gallery freezes and shows no pictures, it just shows the blue bar at the top labeled "Time" and an empty white box below it where all of the pictures would normally be. Any ideas on how to correct this? It did show that I needed to update the "Samsung Link Platform" when opening the gallery each day and I did that but it had no effect.

Welcome to Android Central! Try going to the App Manager, select Gallery, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now open Gallery again, and wait a few seconds for the database to rebuild. Once that's done, try changing the contact picture again.

The gallery froze 3 times while trying to rebuild the database, but finally did. It may be due to the fact that I have about 10GB of images on the phone? I was able to change a contact pic, but each time I select the gallery for the picture source it literally takes 4 minutes for any pictures to show. (If I open the gallery itself, pictures populate the display box instantly.) I know 10GB is lot of data, but up until a week or two back pictures would populate the dialogue box instantly. Any ideas on how to reduce the load time for the pictures in the Contact Image dialogue box?

Are all of the contacts associated with your Google account? If so, you could try Clearing Cache and Data from Contacts and Contact Storage in the App Manager, then let it sync again with your Google account.
