How do I connect a controller to my tablet?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 model SM-T230NU. I've heard of USB OTG cables, but as far as I know, my model tablet isn't compatible with those. I have two 360 controllers, one wired, one not, and one wireless One controller. I only want to use a controller for emulating, because the touchscreen controls in the emulators I use will randomly stop even when I'm still holding them... Is there any way I could connect one to my device without rooting it, or should I just go buy a PS3 controller and use Bluetooth?
