How do I create Gmail contact groups on Moto Z Play?

I am trying to avoid having to go through every single contact I have in my Gmail account. I use the Google calendar "invite" to send upcoming and scheduled doctor's appointments, etc. to a small group of people. When I use it, email addresses for contacts I have emailed once and will probably not need to again that I don't necessarily want to delete JIC. I'm not seeing a way to organize or make groups using Gmail on my mobile or device which I only use. Any advice, help answer would be great. Thank you and have a great day.

Make a group in Contacts, not in Gmail. Add that group to all contacts that belong in it. (They each have to have an email address for this to work, of course.)

Go to Groups and long-press the group. Select "Send an email". Select the members of the group that you want the email sent to (there's a "Select all" button to make it easier). If you don't have any other email apps in the phone, you'll be brought to Gmail, otherwise, you'll be given your choice of email apps to use. The email will be sent to all the people you selected.
