How Do I customize my different screens?

Hey all, just got the phone but I have a couple questions. How do I get rid of the HTC email thing thats on my other screen as well as the favorites and messages??? I just want blank screens to add widgets and app shortcuts....

To put apps on your screen, bring up your app drawer from the screen where you want the icon and then long press on the app in the drawer, then place it where you want.

To put a widget on the screen, long press on the screen, then a box will come up, choose widgets, then select the widget you want. The widget will be placed wherever you long pressed the screen, you can move widgets and other icons around by long pressing them and dragging them to where you want.

To remove a widget or icon, long press it and drag to the bottom where the trash can as Roy mentioned above.
